In other news…
Meet our temporary house guest: Charlie-baby, the golden-doodle! Her real name is just “Baby” but it creates too much confusion around here so I changed it and she seems to respond to it well!
I found Charlie-baby on Friday morning- Claire and I were on our way to music class when I almost ran her over with my car. I of course had to stop. She came running right up and sprawled herself at my feet. She had tags on her, but not like the typical “Hi my name is ___ and here is my parents phone number!”, only her rabies vaccine tag and license number. We took the detour to the humane society to see if they could identify her and call her owners to let them know that she had gone a little romp on her own. Well, the humane society didn’t open for another hour or so and I was not going to be stuck in the car with a dog I didn’t know and a fussy babe (fussy because according to Claire, the car seat is pretty much the devil.)
Anyway, I brought her home and after much research I finally got a hold of her owner…in FLORIDA! To make this long story not be as long as it could, Charlie-baby’s previous owner pretty much relenquished her to me so now I have to try to find her a forever home. Which is fine because she is really a fantastic dog – she’s only about 1.5-2 years old but so sweet and really just wants to be loved. She has taken to all the animals great – loves hunting for Monty (our ferret) and today has decided to stare at Lola (the turtle). She’s just funny and so well mannered (doesn’t get on any of the furniture!) So, if any of you in the area are looking for a sweet golden-doodle give me a holla!
And I leave you with a picture of the flowers on my desk. I love how bold and feminine they are. Fresh flowers are a must, specially during the brittle and brown winter months.
Sometimes, in your journey through life you need a constant. You need something that is uncompromising to the world, its situations and ideas. This is what Guinness is for Jennifer. For the past three years “Guinny” has been Jennifer’s constant – The one that will always curl up with her on the couch, take up half the king size bed, finish the last bite of toast and offer relentless unwavering love. This is a dogs powerfully stubborn beauty. Guinny has been there with Jennifer through her ups and downs and I hope I documented the bond between them well enough to show its strength. In case I didn’t, let me tell you that it is stronger than a hydrogen bond. (Yeah, I’m a nerd.)
Jennifer, you are fabulously gorgeous … and have amazing taste in shoes! I wish you and Guinny much happiness in Northern California!
This is probably my favorite shot from the session….Dog, wonderful shoes and great legs. Maybe I like it so much because I was not graced with gorgeous long legs.
Sarah and Travis came out of his home to meet me hand-in-hand. When asked how they met, they both smile in pleasant memories. When we had to climb fences to get to a good spot, he helped her over. They are totally into each other. I can tell. The camera doesn’t lie either.
Travis just couldn’t keep his eyes off of Sarah during our shoot…. and why should he? She’s simply radiant.
I am SO smitten with this next picture of Sarah. Sarah, you’re flippin’ gorgeous.
It takes a special kind of man to be with an animal lover. Sarah and I have this in common. We both have lots of pets and transcend the phrase “animal loving” to uncharted territories. Luckily, Sarah and Travis met at a veterinary hospital in Del Mar and between the two of them could very well open a small zoo. They only brought along 2 members of their animal entourage to the shoot…Bailey & Duncan – they are brothers and super dooper adorable…
We shot at a bomb (yeah, I can get ghetto) location…horse included. When Travis told me that he grew up playing on this property I was pretty jealous. I want a pond with lilly pads and sweeping weeping willow trees to climb on and acres to run across…I’ll just have to pretend.
This eclectic mix of pooches kept our session fun and undeniably adorable. Each had their own very unique personalities which when all placed together complimented each other so well. Marlee (the dalmatian) is full of spunk, adventure and a never-ending treat belly. Like most dalmatians, she is also deaf – which made it interesting trying to get her attention. Freckles, on the other hand, (the Australian Shepherd) is so mellow, passive and really just liked to chillax (Yeah, I said it.) He was just a sweet heart and a half! And then there’s Bella – she loves her mommy and daddy and is just the cutest little wire terrier mix with the sweetest face!
Diann: Thank you for letting me into your home and allowing me to capture how much you adore your pups – it is such a special relationship. Your babies love you!
I love this last photo! Everyone looks so happy – oh, the power of dogs!!
Because there were so many photos, I also put together a slideshow. Take a look!
…we could see the people we love whenever we wanted to. I’ve been wanting to go back to Colorado lately. Don’t get me wrong, San Diego is nice too, I mean I’m sitting here with my ice blended drink from Coffee Bean (which there are none in Colorado and far too few in SoCal), tank top, windows open, haven’t seen my UGG boots in a few months, and our parrot gets to sit outside all day long. It is just that Derek and I made amazing, like ah-mazing, friends in Colorado and, well, I miss them. We would hang out all the time – our dogs would play while we would drink wine and talk about…well, life and nonsenses. They are also expecting their first baby any day now and how I wish we were there to welcome baby Lukas to the world. I figure since the humans and dogs are already BFF’s it would only be natural for Claire to have a baby Borowski friend as well.
Tony, Christina – move to San Diego please. Like, now.
On a completely different note, it is our parrots (LittleWing) hatchday today and so I have to give him a little love on the blog!
