a little girl and a little dog

Until about two weeks ago, I had never taken my little girl, Claire, out for a photo session of just her. Seriously. How she’s evaded a session is beyond me! This is not to say that the camera isn’t in front her face most of the day, but I’ve never taken her our and photographed her as I would a clients child – she was totally in her element. And I love everything about these photos because they all scream her: They represent Claire as she is now. Running, flowers, fingers in mouth, wildly painted nails, jumping & dancing and her own sense of style.
You wouldn’t believe me if I told you that this is a very pared down selection of my favorites (of course I love all of them because they all have her in them!), but I want to order a few of these in large canvases. However, I am having a hard time deciding, so if you have a favorite let me know and it’ll help me narrow down my choices!!
While in her own world, running along the dirt trails, talking to herself and avoiding anything that remotely resembled animal feces, she found a petal of sorts shaped like a moon. She was elated! And then reached so high in the sky to put the moon back. Love her.
I also learned what a ham she can be in front of the camera!
And here she is doing her “golf clap”. It’s quite amazing in person as well :)
We were taking care of a puppy that we adopted for one of aunts this day and he was so eager to please and quite adorable that I had to bring him out with us! We named him Hank.
