Straying

August 11, 2014 · Personal, Portraits, The Simple Sessions

To be an artist is to have something deep inside you that needs ignition; a yearning that calls to be awakened. To be an artist is to cultivate that fire into a vision; organic, unique, representative of whom you are as an individual. Anyone can call themselves an artist, but many are merely imitations struggling to be a lesser version of somebody else. It is those who never stray, those who commit to who they are, those who believe there is purpose in keeping the fire ignited that will succeed.

It has been a pretty intense year for me personally. And I needed to push myself creatively. Staying in one place is not ok with me – my gypsy heart – and I think it is important to change things up and break your own barriers.

More from this session coming soon…

Z-Rex’s Birth

August 6, 2014 · Families, Lifestyle, Newborns

First, how incredibly adorable is the nickname Z-Rex?! Seriously.

When Z-Rex’s momma asked me to do a birth session for her, I was completely giddy and humbled. I felt so lucky that she was entrusting me to document such a milestone in her life – a milestone that can be everything from blissful to terrifying to vulnerable to empowering. I am so glad I was there to witness and capture his birth – Momma, thank you so so much for trusting me and allowing me to be there as you welcomed your little guy. It was an absolute pleasure. It has actually inspired me to pursue adding “birthing doula” to my resume.
